Amsterdam meet 2012
Last sunday I went for the first time to the annual Spyderco Amsterdam Meet. It was awesome. There were so many great knives, that I completely lost track, which one was a prototype and which one was a concept model. Thanks a lot to the spyderco crew for a wonderful event and to Wouter for the excellent pictures.: http://www.spydercollector.com/
My personal highlights:
-
Ulrich Hennicke Ulize, excellent design by an excellent knife maker
-
Lum Tanto fixed sprint run, featuring the paperstone- scales known from the Buck 110/112
-
Caly 3 damascus sprint run, with Takefu's VG-10 cored damascus
-
Brad Southard Folder, first spyderco flipper
-
Return of the Starmate, according to my memory the specs of the new Starmate are regarding to the original:
+ stronger lock-insert
+ off-side liner
+ 4-way clip
+ G-10 has more grip
- not made in Golden
- steel is VG-10, not CPM-440V
- no Terzuola-emblem
Just for completion: some pics of the event's engraved spyderbug and the generous gifts everybody got.

The Starmate
The Starmate is a very popular and sought-after discontinued model designed by Bob Terzuola, it's his thrid collaboration model for spyderco. It took me almost two years to get one and today it was delivered to my home. So, I was pretty excited. The knife is in excellent shape, practically unused, almost mint.
